About Us

About Our Dental Practice in Leyland

Seventy One Dental was established in 2021, after joining two well established practices in Leyland.

Facilities include 14 modern treatment rooms, full computerisation, the latest digital x-ray software and a central sterilisation system.

The practice provides treatment on a private basis, including Dental Implants, Wrinkle Treatments and Cosmetic Dentistry to improve your smile. We also provide a full range of NHS treatments, except orthodontics.

The treatment you receive is entirely your choice, it is our job to help you understand any problems and what solutions are available, ensuring you are involved in all decisions about your care.

Recognising our commitment to quality

We are involved with foundation dental training (FDP) and dental therapist training, helping train and inspire future dental professionals.

We have been selected as one of NHS England’s local minor oral surgery providers for central Lancashire. This service is for patients ages 10 and over, that don’t require hospital treatment. The service provides a range of location in the local area and is aimed at providing shorter waiting times, in a local primary care setting.

We work closely with royal Preston hospital in the management of oncology patients providing them with urgent dental treatment and reducing hospital waiting times.

We are running a pilot scheme for paediatric patients requiring dental treatment not routinely offered in general dental practice.

Facilities and Technology

Itero

What is it? The iTero Element Plus scanner is a handheld intraoral scanner that helps dentists to scan the mouth and create three dimensional images in minutes. These images help your dentist to produce extremely accurate dental models for work such as crowns, veneers, implants, and orthodontics such as invisalign

How does it work? The iTero Element plus is a digital scanner, and features a wand which your dentist moves around the mouth. The wand captures thousands of frames per second which are pieced together to create a 3D visualisation of your mouth. The wand is small, making it less likely for you to gag, unlike older technology. It takes around three minutes and, unlike traditional impression trays, you can stop and start as often as you like, ensuring your complete comfort throughout

Benefits

  • No impressions, no paste
  • Instant 3D images you can see on screen
  • Increased accuracy for precision treatment
  • The chance to see what your future smile could look like

To find out more about how digital scans could make your impressions easier and more comfortable, call our team today on 01772 458844 / 01772 424763

OPG:

An OPG is a panoramic X-ray of the upper and lower jaws, including the teeth. The machine is specifically designed to rotate around your head during the scan and takes around 20 seconds.

An OPG can be used to look for

  • Fractures
  • Dislocated jaw
  • Infection
  • Dentition (teeth)
  • Surgical planning.

Just before the OPG

There is no special preparation for an OPG.
You may be asked to remove any metal objects as these could show up on the final image

Important to tell your doctor before the OPG

If you are or may be pregnant.

When will I get the results?

The amount of time it takes for you to get your results will differ depending on where you were referred from.

Our OPG machine takes digital x-rays and the image is available on our computer straight away.

If you are a registered patient, having the OPG on the same day as your appointment, your dentist may discuss the results with you while you are at the practice. Or you may need to make an appointment to discuss the image with your dentist if they have asked for a follow up.

If you have been referred for an OPG, the final digital image will be sent via secure email on the same day, to your regular dentist who will then be in touch to discuss the image.

Radiographs (x-rays)

All our rooms are fitted with digital x-rays, when your nurse develops the radiograph, it will appear on your dentists computer straight away. Your dentist is then able to share this image on a monitor and discuss any findings. This means you aren’t having to twist around to see the dentists screen.
