Assim Ghaffoor Biography

I qualified from Sheffield University in 1999 and moved to Leyland opening Station Dental Practice in 2003.  Station and Grove Dental Practice were merged in August 2021 to form our amazing new practice - 71 Dental.

Over the years, I have the privilege of working with wonderful and talented teams serving our patients from far and wide.

Education is a passion and I have been involved in supervising and mentoring newly qualified dentists and dental therapists since 2007, many of who continue to work at the practice.

My particular area of interest in Dentistry is Dental Implantology and Oral Surgery having gained a Master’s Degree qualification in Implantology and a Certificate qualification in Oral Surgery.

I have gained further post graduate teaching qualifications and three from the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners. Together, I have completed courses in Cosmetic Dentistry and Orthodontics.

Currently, I am completing a course in Sedation which will further compliment the scope of dental treatment the practice can deliver supporting our patients.

Helen Hughes Biography

I began working with the 71 Dental team in 2014 and I have remained settled here ever since.  Lancashire has been my home for over 20 years and I enjoy providing dental and aesthetic care to my local community.

I enjoy general family dentistry and I have a passion for continued education – both learning and teaching.  I have undertaken extensive postgraduate training to provide a range of more specialist skills.

I am an Invisalign provider, having received training from some of the world’s top Invisalign orthodontists in London. 

Facial aesthetics is something I have a passion for.  I have trained to MSc level at the world renowned skin ageing department at The University of Manchester.  I love being able to improve a patient’s confidence in their own skin. 

I also work for Higher Education England to support newly qualified dentists and I am currently studying at Edge Hill University for a formal qualification in medical education. 

As well as working at 71 I feel very lucky to teach dental technicians to provide clinical dentures on the CDT course at The University of Central Lancashire.  I enjoy making dentures and I am passionate about providing natural and functional results.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and swimming and mountain bike riding.  I have a love for travelling and I enjoy taking our daughter to see as much of the world as I can. 

Nazma Akuji Biography

I graduated from the University of Manchester and after a year of Foundation training, I spent a year working at Manchester Dental Hospital developing my skills further.

I am particularly interested in aesthetic and biomimetic dentistry and have had the opportunity to develop my skills further at the practice having completed a Post graduate Certificate in Orthodontics.

I enjoy travelling, spending time with family and friends and reading.

Abida Arif Biography

I qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2016 and joined the practice in May 2021.

I enjoy all aspects of general Dentistry and enjoy working particularly with nervous patients.

In my spare time I love to travel and spending time with my family.

Sumaiya Bapu

I qualified in 2012 having successfully completed Foundation training with Assim at Station Dental Practice and have been working in Leyland Since.

Holistic care and spending extra time with nervous patients is important to me putting them at ease with regards to their proposed dental treatment.

I enjoy helping other team members and less experienced colleagues as I appreciate the importance of teamwork. 

I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and I am currently working to improve my skills in cosmetic dentistry.

I enjoy shopping, travelling and spending quality time with my family and have a keen interest in interior design.

Tejiri Brunskill Biography

Following on from a degree in biomedical science, I qualified as a dentist in 2016.

I joined the practice in 2020 and am passionate about providing quality dental treatment and love the variety that general dental practice gives.

Oral Health promotion and oral disease prevention is important to me having given talks in schools and new mum groups.

I had the privilege of providing much needed dental treatment in the rural villages of the Philippines as a part of a mission’s trip.

Outside of work I love to spend time with my family and travelling.

Sarah Casey Biography

I graduated from Manchester University and was awarded the Charles Preston Prize for best final exam results.

I joined the team in 2011 and have experience of providing private dental care also.

I am dedicated to providing dental treatment in a caring, welcoming and patient orientated manner. As a mum of two boys, I understand the importance of a child friendly approach.

Lauren Keefe Biography

I Joined 71 Dental in 2020 having qualified from the University of Liverpool.  I particularly enjoy treating children and anxious patients.  Outside of work, I enjoy water sports in particular dragon boat racing.

Karen Manning Biography

I joined the team in 2021 having qualified from Leeds University.  Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Amy Martindale Biography

I qualified in 2015 and have worked with the practice since.

I hold a degree in Biomedical science and have been awarded membership of the Faculty of Dentistry Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.

I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and am committed to maintain the smiles and healthy mouths of my patients. 

I am passionate in helping those with dental phobias overcome their fears.

In my spare time I enjoy going for walks and travelling.

Elspeth Petrycki Biography

I joined the team in 2020 having qualified from Liverpool University.

Working with Assim and his team has been a great opportunity to consolidate and develop my skills working alongside skilled and experienced colleagues.

I particularly enjoy working with patients who maybe a little anxious and am currently completing a course in dental sedation.

Outside of work I have a pet hedgehog and enjoy travelling around Europe in my campervan!

Sarah Houghton Biography

I qualified from the University of Liverpool as a Dental Therapist having completed my training with Assim and his Team at Station Dental Practice.

I have continued to work in the area and enjoy delivering all aspects within a Dental Therapist scope to serve our patients.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family having two young boys visiting zoos and parks and river cruising.  I am a huge fan of theme parks and a Lego enthusiast.

Bethan Oakes Biography

I have worked in the dental profession for over 20 years.

My work began as one of the initial members of staff that now make up the 71 dental team. I am extremely proud to have been a big part in managing the transition from much smaller beginnings to the current purpose built clinic at 71 dental.

During my career I have worked in a wide range of dental settings including NHS and private practice and maxillo facial surgery in local hospitals.

I have had the pleasure of working with some extremely talented dentists, surgeons & consultants and gained a wealth of experience and variety of additional qualifications and skills.

These include business management, dental radiography, impression taking and sedation.

This background enables me to bring extensive skills to our team and patients that are essential to my role as manager at 71 Dental.

I value kindness and like to ensure our patients have a pleasant visit and staff have an enjoyable work environment. 

I have a keen interest in farming, owning our own sheep and cattle, which I feel is a wonderful way of life to raise my son alongside my husband. 

Kirsty Munro Biography

I thoroughly enjoy my job and enjoy being a part of the lovely team at 71 Dental that I work with.

I thrive on a busy environment and love meeting old and new patients listening to their stories and making their visit to the practice as smooth as possible.

Out of work I am a very busy mum of 3 and tend to spend my weekends being a typical ‘boy mum’ standing on the side-lines of a freezing cold football pitch.

I also enjoy warmer past times such as eating out and going to the theatre.

Chloe Winster Biography

I started my nursing apprenticeship soon after Station Dental Practice opened in 2005.

I have seen the practice develop from a 2 surgery practice to what it is now a 14 surgery state of the art practice.

I have been closely involved in supporting, guiding and inspiring team members during these years.

I particularly enjoy oral surgery and Dental Implantology.

My outside interests include going for walks and spending time with family, friends and my dog Lola.

Amy Sumners Biography

I joined the practice in 2014 and have never looked back! I see the Team at 71 Dental as my work family and could not ask for a better Team!

I have seen at first hand the practice develop over the years and similarly my roles and responsibilities have grown which I have thoroughly embraced.

Jenna Coxon Biography

I joined the practice as a trainee dental nurse and soon realised that my particular area of interest was infection control and decontamination and have the pleasure of now being the practice Decontamination Technician

I love being a part of the Team at 71 Dental and playing an integral part in the operating of the practice.

I enjoy spending time with the family and enjoy arts and crafts.  I have a cat called Bruce who thinks he is a wild panther but when it comes down to it he is a softie!
